by deaconbluez inhow would you answer this:.
"it's simple: we know there was a 70-year exile, and that that the jews returned in 537bce.
so 537bce minus 70 years equals 607bce!

Here is another chart from another poster from the same thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/111283/1.ashx
Here is something originally on Quotes web site. It is now on Reexamine.org

Regnal Years of Babylonian Kings During Occupation of Jerusalem
Timeline Overview Table
This chart summarizes the Watch Tower Society quotes collected and presented elsewhere (http://Reexamine.Quotes/607bce.htm). Please refer to that page for verification of the kingly succession and regnal years presented below.
Remember: for BCE dates, going backwards in time means the numbers get bigger (i.e. counting backwards in time: 3 CE, 2 CE, 1 CE, 1 BCE, 2 BCE, 3 BCE, ... 539 BCE, 540 BCE, 541 BCE, etc.)
- Begin counting backwards in time from: the fall of Babylon to the Persians (539 BCE) in the 17th year of the reign of Nabonidus
- Count backwards in time back to: the fall of Jerusalem to Babylonians under the rule of Nebuchadnezzar II (during his 18th regnal year)
Summary of Babylonian kings reigning over Jerusalem

Therefore, according to Watch Tower Society's chronology of the kings of Babylon and the lengths of their reigns, Nebuchadnezzar II conquered Jerusalem in the year 587 BCE (i.e. not 607 BCE).

Dear Deconbluez,
I feel a bit rusty on the subject as I haven't talked about it in a few months.. But the key is in the 70 years. The Bible speaks of 70 years of servitude, not complete exile. Yes, ones were taken during the 609 time period, but that was way before Jerusalem was actually destroyed. Jerusalem was actually destroyed in 586/587. Remember Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack and Abendigo? They were some of the first ones to get taken captive to Babylon. If I remember correctly, it was around 607 some time. So for them, they would have been in servitude for 70 years by the time Cyrus released them from servitude in 537. But for years up to 586/587 there were thousands at a time taken at different times. It was a big help to me to actually read the account in Daniel and Jeremiah. Keep in mind the Bible tells us it was in Nebachadnezzars 19th reignal year that he destroyed Jerusalem. However, in 607 he wasn't even King yet, but rather a prince. In 605 he suceeded the throne. So you can see 607 was not his 19th reignal year. Here is something I posted some time ago that may help you.
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
Hi everyone,
I just made this chart for my brother-in-law using the Bible as well as the book entitled Assyrian & Babylonian Chronicles by A.K. Grayson printed in 1975. Grayson is a world renound expert used to decipher the Assyrian and Babylonian Chronicles for the British Museum. I checked out this book from the local library. Although they had to send away to a College University for it. A interesting note: the Society uses this very book in the Insight Vol.2 under Nebuchadnezzar to support their dates. When I got this book, it was for the purpose of checking their dates and quotes of this author. As you will see by this chart, they have misquoted him to serve their own deceitful purpose! I included scriptures that support the chronicles. Like I said, I made this for my brother-in-law, but thought someone out there might be able to use it.
Have a great night!

Dear Fading ELD.
(((HUGS))) Thank you for updating us, as we are sincerely interested in what happens to you and your family! Hang in there. At least you and your wife are talking. The shock and newness will fade and she will be left wondering what in the heck has she left her family for? Can you reason with her that it is her moral obligation before Jehovah to stay with her family even if you choose to leave the borg? Can you explain to her that you have not left Jehovah? Perhaps you have already tried these things without any sucess. Never say never though. She may in time come around. Till then you and your sons have our love and support! We look forward to hearing more from you, and hearing your experiences.
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty

feelings of guilt
by confused and lost inas some of you are aware i am in the early stages of doubting the wts as the only channel of truth.however i am assailed by feelings of guilt.am i being seduced by the words of disgruntled witnesses or ex-witnesses or am i truly doubting !
!maybe some of you felt this way in the early stages of your "defection" from the wts.sometimes i feel as though i am rejecting god and his organization but other times i feel so strongly that the wts has misled me and is acting to control my "loyalty" by vieled threats of destruction at armageddon.you see prior to becoming a jw i had no religious affiliations.i knew nothing about the bible or god.so for 20 yrs i have only known watchtower teachings and un-learning 20yrs of this is making me so indesicive.am i doing the right thing or not ?
my only solace is prayer.i have prayed to god to show me in some way what the truth really is.i must admit that these prayers have been the most heartfelt i have ever said.have others felt this way and if so how did they deal with it ?i would truly appreciate some feedback.

Dear Confused and lost,
My heart truely goes out to you, because I know exactly how you are feeling. It is a inner turmoil. I found solice in prayer. I knew Jehovah knew I was sincere, just as he knows you are. He knew I was scared, he knew I wanted to find the truth to all of it, even if it meant the truth was what I had been raised to believe it was. Rather then praying for it to be the truth, or for it not to be the truth, I prayed for truth no matter what it was. I prayed for holy spirit to direct me, and to make sure of all things. By doing this, I became even more determined to research and get to the bottom of it.
One thing that I did that I to this day still try to practice, is not to take anyones word for my research. Instead of believing everything I heard, I wanted proof, copies or scans of articles if I didn't have the bound volumn, websites, to see for myself ( such as the UN website regarding the Watchtower scandal. Also, the British museums website to find Chronicles regarding 607...etc..) I checked and double checked EVERYTHING. In time I realised how much we as Witnesses were being lied to. I knew how much Jehovah hates a liar, and Holy Spirit helped me to see what I needed to do. Things will become clearer. Just give it some time. Keep your relationship with Jehovah and Jesus close. They will NOT abandon you! And because you are sincere, and are seeking truth, they will help you find it no matter what it proves to be! (((HUGS)))!!!
Hang in there!! We are here for you!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
